99Moments is a platform that is commited to the gathering of moments in a shared timeline. The platform can be used by any individual without a monetary barrier. There is neither a charge for signing up nor a fee per created item. 99Moments is based on a rather uncomplicated understanding of time. One event (a Journey, a party, a concert, …) is characterized by smaller instances of time – timeline items (single days of the journey, scenes that happened at the party, songs that were played at the concert).


Of course the basic information on the timeline alone does not yet describe the moments we live to see in a satisfying manner. Therefore additional content and information can be attached to the items (see figure below).



Text, Video and Images are the types of content provided in the first version. Every item on the timeline can be specified in terms of its time and duration as well as of its geographical context with GoogleTM Coordinates. You have a lot of possibilities to participate in the process of timeline enrichment.

You can create items and publish them, you can share moments with a group of people that have also something to contribute to those pieces of time or you can share moments to describe them with the cooperation of the whole community of 99Moments.

You can tag events and timeline items to support the search of others looking for similar topics. You can comment and rate items to codetermine the popularity of content in 99Moments. 99Moments uses state of the art search-engine technology to scan for desired content by subject, tags, coordinates or time information. In upcoming releases you will be able to manage a compilation of your favourite events on the global timeline and share it to other users. An extensible category structure will make it easy to browse the world’s moments. The concept of 99Moments does not restrict events at all to be just glances of our past. Far from it ! It encourages us to plan the moments of our future, especially if we do not want to experience those moments just on our own.

Foreign groups who want to visit the EURO08 can organize themselves by depicting a schedule of games, parties and other events at 99Moments. Everybody can contribute to the planning and subscribe to the event in order to be informed via RSS-Feed or Email.

An inbound instant messaging system will support the communication in future versions.

The text content describing events and timeline items supports multilinguality by adding translations to them. The current version supports German and English.
